Description
Marguerite Wilson was the outstanding talent of women's cycling in 1930s Britain. The 'Blonde Bombshell from Bournemouth' as she was dubbed by the press, held all 16 women's distance records and was the first full time female professional cyclist. During the war she was among Britain's first seven airline stewardesses, serving with BOAC's flying boat service at Poole.
Marguerite wrote extensively about her cycling, her articles were published throughout the cycling press. These first-hand accounts offer not only an insight into her cycling, but also her natural charm, wit and intelligence. Six of her contemporaries write eloquently of her achievements. William brings all this together with a biographical account of her cycling career and time with BOAC, he also gives an insight into club cycling in the 1930s and the development of organised women's competition with the formation of the Women's Road Records Association.
This stylish book, predominately in black and white has 132 pages and is richly illustrated with 121 plates and Blurb's book production is of outstanding quality. Please follow the link if you would like an e-book edition.
